Same old question(again) LCD vs LED

Has technology changed much in the last 3-5 years? I have queried CP before when I bought my last TV.

The way it was, had 3 choices: plasma (best pic, bad in lighted areas, no computer hook-up), LCD (nice pic, fine in lighted area, computer hook-up), LED (great pic, computer input, expensive).

I just picked up a Samsung 46" LED 5300 for $500 at walmart, their last one. This is the upgrade in the 5000 series. The 5300 has SMART tech (wireless, apps all that crap). They are suppose to retail at $1000. My bad. I just found Best Buy has about the same pricing as walmart. I had done a brief research and these were one of the top cyber Monday deals.

I got home a did a search at Best Buy. The 46" LCD is going for $400-500. The LED's are going about the same. I forgot that there is a 4th choice, the
3D stuff. Those ARE pricey.

In the end, I just bought a 46" LED for $500 to go with the 2 other 46" LCD that I bought a few years ago.

If the LED is about the same price as LCD, why would anyone buy LCD?

BTW, the CP search function sucks. It throws me into a google search outside CP.
