Re-watched the game. Sutton rushed 3 again A LOT. Very few times did he have Houston and Ford both going after Rivers at once. When Zombo came in, it wasn't much different. I bet Houston and Ford didn't both rush on the same play more than 5 times.

The only logical explanation I can come up with is that Sutton wanted to throw Brady and Rivers curveballs. They both are notorious for getting the ball out really fast. So, rather than try to get there with 4 like everyone does, Sutton came out and gave tons of different looks, typically only sending 3 defenders, with a sprinkle of blitzes and 4-man pressures... then, the QBs just sit back there looking for someone to throw to, with mostly everything covered. It resulted in a lot of throwaways and INTs yesterday.

Sutton has really picked his game up this year. So many more different, exotic alignments than past years. Hopefully he continues to keep offenses and quarterbacks guessing.
I think you are correct with this. We have had 122 passing attempts on our defense so far, which is the 2nd highest in the league, and only 61 completions. That's a 50% completion rate, which is the best in the NFL. Whatever Sutton is doing so far is working. It's frustrating sometimes for sure, but it's producing wins.
