Why can't you downgrade? Uninstall the app, then download 4.9.5 from the link on your phone. Once installed, go into its page on the Play Store, then click the three little dots in the upper-right to uncheck auto-update.

As for alternatives, Forum Fiend works on the same API, so it'll work with ChiefsPlanet, but it's pretty clunky.
