I don't think it had anything to do with Daryl or the deer meat, unless the pigs dying is a red herring.
Though, now that I think about it, Rick saw the dead deer in the woods followed by the dying wild boar. Are they implying that the boar ate some of the deer? What about the pig in the pen. Would they feed the pigs deer scraps?
