I use USB constantly. Let's not pretend its an outdated technology. Sitting in front of me right now, I have my iPod, camera, and phone all with USB cables attached to them, plus a USB drive plugged in.
Of course, the functioning of the iPad (and I still do giggle every time I say that name) lends itself to life without USB. If we had an OS X tablet, it would be essential. The iPad, just nice.
