Fantasy Football Week 3 Dark Horse Sleeper: Marlon Brown

Marlon Brown has been surprising people since the Baltimore Ravens brought him in as an undrafted free agent this summer. Brown, a tall receiver who has the body type to be a No. 1 outside receiver, played well in preseason and now finds himself in the right place at the right time to have his breakout NFL game. And the time is right for him to land on your fantasy football radar. The Ravens are seriously thin at receiver. They traded Anquan Boldin this offseason to shed salary, then lost Jacoby Jones to teammate-on-teammate violence in the first week of the season. Brown will be the beneficiary of the suddenly wide-open Baltimore receiver depth chart. A guy who was no stranger to the big play when he was at the University of Georgia — he averaged over 17 yards per reception and scored four touchdowns on just 27 catches his final college season — Brown is a threat to score every time he gets his hands on the ball. Many times in fantasy football value comes down to opportunity just as much as it comes does to talent. You can have all the ability in the world, but if you don’t get on the field often enough it doesn’t matter. That means a guy like Brown, who is going to get snaps early and often against the Houston Texans this week, will get every opportunity to make plays and put up points for your fantasy team. If you’re looking for a dark-horse sleeper, especially in a deep league, grab Brown off your waiver wire and reap the rewards of being ahead of the curve on this guy.
I get this writer's take BUT Balt is a run first offense who is 0-2 just coming off losing in Buff going against a salty Houston D and 2ndary. Rice/Jones are out not to mention all the leadership lost from the year before that is taking a toll and Flacco's leadership so far is resulting in losses. The only saving grace is that they are at home and Harbs is the coach. Will Flacco have time to find Brown today ? He might but I see a slow melt down for Balt this season in the long run.
