Jets | Talks with Chiefs for Edwards progressing?

Newsday.com reports the New York Jets cancelled a scheduled press conference Thursday, Jan. 5, that was to include Jets head coach Herman Edwards, which leads to increased speculation that Edwards would not return to coach the team in 2006. Talks between the Jets and Kansas City Chiefs progressed Wednesday, Jan. 4, with a deal that would allow Edwards out of his contract in exchange for draft picks, according to a source familiar with the situation. "It's not a done deal, but it's certainly moving in that direction," said the source, who added the deal could be completed within the next few days.
