They pretty much ruined the third book by splitting it up into two seasons. The book was so great because so many things happen that completely change the landscape of the story. In the show the entire third season was just a setup for the Red Wedding. Felt like a "filler" season which is sad since it's 10 episodes.. sort of like the entirety of a Feast for Crows which was completely shite
