Last night was one of the reasons I watch MMA. I honestly bought the fight for the undercards, I wanted to see Lawler win, and I wanted to see if DC could dust off Hendo and make a case for a title shot.
The main event was an afterthought, sure TJ is a tough kid, but I figured he was an outmatched blood donor for this fight, intended to keep Barao's skills sharp in a tune-up payday while waiting for a real opponent to heal up.
What was shocking wasn't that TJ won the fight, but that it was no fluke, he won every round. In the 4th and 5th he could have laid back, played defense, and taken it easy but he instead stayed in there and finished it. He was clearly the better fighter last night, deserved to be the champ, and now I want to see if he can hold on to the title.
