Alaska is on the list of places I'd love to visit.
You know you are a fly fishing junkie when you always pack your fishing gear just because there is *some* water nearby that you *might* be able to fish. Rod, waders, boots, and vest/chestpack take up more room in your bag than you'd think.
Also, never send a rod tube through checked luggage. They fall off of the luggage system rollers every damn time and get lost.
