Everyone loves to yell about how conservative Smith is but he will throw the ball if someone is open, even if it's only 5 yards. The longer our routes are the bigger the problem our WRs becomes.

Michael Crabtree was drafted in 2009. He proved himself to be mediocre outside #1 WR. He is good inside #1 WR.
KC needs to find a balance of bending somewhat to what Smith likes to do and Smith needs to bend somewhat to the strengths of the targets on the roster.
