ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) – News 4 is happy to announce Katie Horner has joined the 4Warn Storm Team.

Horner will join Chief Meteorologist Steve Templeton and 4Warn Meteorologists Kent Ehrhardt, Matt Chambers and Kristen Cornett. Horner comes to St. Louis from Kansas City where she was the chief meteorologist at KCTV for 17 years. Katie is best known for her enthusiasm for severe weather coverage.

Katie will be forecasting the weather on News 4 at 5 p.m. alongside Sharon Reed and Jasmine Huda. She will also report the weather for News 4 at Noon with Robin Smith.

Katie says she is thrilled to be living in the same town as her parents who have called St. Louis home for the last 25 years.

“I have spent 17 years studying, forecasting and helping people through every aspect of Missouri weather from ice storms, heat waves, floods and tornados,” Honer said. “It’s an honor to join KMOV’s team of dedicated, skilled meteorologists lead by Steve Templeton.”

“There are few people who have the credentials Katie will bring to News 4,” said Sean McLaughlin, Executive News Director at KMOV. “She is a severe weather expert and will bolster our already strong weather team.”

Katie’s passion for severe weather motivated her to become an author. Her book, Brainstorming: A Creative Guide to Help Parents through Severe Weather, was inspired after several tornado outbreaks throughout the Kansas City area, to help children and parents brave the Midwest weather.
Besides Kansas City, Horner previously worked as a meteorologist in Pensacola, Florida.

Horner is a graduate of the University of West Florida and received her Meteorology degree from Mississippi State University.

Horner will start at KMOV after the first of the year, with her first newscast on News 4 at Noon on January 7th.
