I agree with your assessment but I guess to my twisted way of thinking, a QB is normally one of the higher scoring guys on your fantasy roster. If he has a crappy game and my WR does as well, I'm going to end up coming out ahead. It may not make any real sense, it's just something I've seen work more often than not.
Don't mistake what I'm saying, I'm not benching Calvin Johnson to start Baldwin just because my opponent is starting Cassel, but if I have 2 like WRs, I'll try to protect my lineup knowing that any TDs his QB throws have a great likelihood of also scoring for me.
