Some of the humorous bits and the silly aliens remind my of Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy.
Douglas Adams was a former writer for Dr. Who during the Tom Baker years. It used to be even cheesier before the budget ramp up. That was always a part of the charm of the show. There was one episode where their feet went through the floor of a cave on an obvious green screen shot. For a special effect to simulate the visual of a ship spiraling down to crash on a planet, they used a wheel that was hand cranked that had craters drawn on it. The effects are 1000% better now.

What the Raiders fan has said is true, our customs are different. What Al Davis has said is unimportant, and we do not hear his words.
