The VEPR-12's are new and good(and cheaper). The Benelli M4 has quite a bit to say for itself.
But if you want ultimate reliability. Look at interial driven shotguns. The M4 and the VEPR-12 are both gas driven, they run well but there is always a chance for the crud to build up in the gas system. The inertial driven semi-auto shotguns are generally more reliable and are what most 3-gunners use in major competition where if you have a failure you lose. The VEPRs are also used in 3gun some.
The inertial drive systems don't vent gas so they run cleaner. But the inertial driven semi-auto isn't as cheap. Only 2-3 companies build them, benelli is one. Everyone one of theirs but the M4 is inertial. Now which also take tactical lights? That's a bit messier.
