If you want an 'idiot-proof' AK pattern shotgun get a VEPR-12, better made than the saiga version(saiga is ishmash vepr is molot), and as the military/police version it'll be as reliable as you want it to be. Pricier but I like the quality of mine and they should be bringing in the proper folding stocks in.
I will say this usually the FTF they have is mostly with light loads. It usually likes to run pretty hot so defense loads aren't likely to be an issue. Remember the military/police version is designed to run with a 16.9" barrel. Going outside of the design specs can effect the reliability. I've had no issues so far with mine at the ~18" stock civvy barrel.
