I actually get so pissed now.. the next time you are watching evening news or something pay attention to how many erection commercials come on..

I will cover the birds and the bees but my god my kids can't watch spongeboob their whole life...
I hear the arguments about just drawing a diagram and saying "Here's how everything works," and it seems refreshingly honest. I had to learn about sex from hearing the hoodlums talk about it on the back of the school bus. But at the same time I can see where it would spark a curiosity that might not be appropriate for a child. Tough call.

Like I said, I don't have kids, but I've thought about it sometimes when a show like 2 1/2 Men is on. Or 80 percent of other shows these days, for that matter. At least the commercials are for medications, but some of the jokes and plot lines on today's television are far past the line for family fare.

Now, to completely contradict myself, I'll note a couple of funny things I saw on TV the other day, while at the same time being surprised that they made it onto the air. I'm a fan of "My Name Is Earl", and they're always slipping through things that make my jaw drop. The most overt one on an episode I saw last week was one where Earl's new wife came home for a romantic evening. She asked him about edible underwear flavors (he nixed chocolate), but then she reached into a shopping bag, smiled real big, and pulled out a pair of handcuffs and .... a bunch of carrots.

A bunch of carrots? Wow.

In the same episode, he was talking about seducing Amish women (or at least the local version of them). It was actually pretty funny, because the scene broke to a rhythmically shaking van and Earl's voiceover saying something like, "Even without land, a good farmer will find something to plow."

My goodness.

That show got away with as much as any show I've ever seen.
