Dead.
It's not being licensed for film and TV, it's not selling albums and it's not selling tours. Even Van Halen can't sell out stadiums anymore and they're relegated to small arenas and amphitheaters.
The young kids and teens are not into guitar driven rock with lyrics about sex and love. They're not. It's a different mindset and a different vibe.

All seems true but rock is not "dead' it will return retro 1 day-
I thought it was dead several years ago while searching for rock, even classic rock last year.
I just might just be old but seems the lines are more blurred than before as far as "genre" is concerned.
Always say I realized I was old when rock was called "classic rock" back when!
