A retired Lt. Colonel is all of a sudden an expert on engineering exoskeletons? LOL From what he said, you can tell he hasn't the slightlest clue what he's talking about.

He says that the suits will be heavier than what the soldiers are wearing now. He seems to presume that the soldiers will be burdened by the weight of the exo-skeleton on top of the weight they already use. He doesn't even seem to understand how an exo-skeleton is supposed to work. It's supposed to lighten the load for soldiers. That is it's primary use. Tech doesn't stop moving either; something people from his generation don't seem to fully comprehend.

I'm by no means an expert, but I've been following the advancements in this field for several years now. Scientist in Texas have actually successfully created artificial muscles that can be "woven" into fabric. This is probably where exo-skeletons are heading. They'll be relatively light and incredibly strong and durable.

What you are wishing away, and you dont understand are just a few of the things I brought up. This isn't some piece of software, or a better vacuum cleaner. This piece of equipment has to be compatible and ergonomic with existing equipment as well as the Soldier.

And if I had a dime everytime I heard that some weapon system was going to make us "super Soldiers", or was the next Revolution in Military Affairs...

Yeah, the shit is coming but far slower and less fantastic that you think.
I don't think that these suits will be something you see on your typical army grunt. It's likely that these "suits" will something that special forces primarily use. It might be another 10 years from now maybe more...hell they might even use a primitive version right now that are classified for secret missions. Who knows. But its likely that you won't see the typical army soldiers walking around with one of these suits..
