He's a corner guy, who can play CF in a pinch but doesn't fit what they want for the spot.
He's never really flashed amazing hit tools, so they haven't found a spot for him. I think they look at it as a situation where Maier is a known quantity and liked clubhouse presence. Lough's upside is basically Maier, so Maier sticks around.
