It's not like he went out and shot some random honor student nine times, pausing between each shot to twirl his evil mustache and watch the victim squirm. This was a crime of passion, and it probably happened very quickly. Do you know how quickly somebody can fire nine shots from a semi-automatic pistol? It takes a couple of seconds.
