First thing first. Sketch idea and mail it via certified mail to yourself, a family member, and your attorney to establish a provable date in which the idea was conceived.
Have the recipients sign for the package, BUT DO NOT OPEN. It must be sealed.
Put your copy in a safe deposit box at a bank. There is a sign in/sign out time and date for when you were there, and that will also prove when you had access to the material.
Good luck. I had an idea that included software patents and finally gave up. I have other ideas that are sitting on the back-burner for now, but I have the dates established with attorney backing.
