Shooting is fun. The cure for getting people who don't like guns or are afraid of guns to like guns is simply to take them to the range, put one in their hand and have them pull the trigger. Works almost all the time. The trick is getting them there in the first place.
I was watching an episode of The Layover the other day where Anthony Bourdain was skeet shooting. He missed repeatedly until he finally got the hang of it, then he hit repeatedly. At one point he turned to the camera and said "How could you not love this?"
