Well, I think I may be a part of him changing his ways..
Do you think him be the shy type from mid-season on, quiet, waiting many days past other teams to fire his GM helped matters?
I like what he's doing, and I think he's doing it mainly because of pressure and the potential reduction in profits. I'm still not convinced how much of it is driven by increased profits and how much is driven by pride/a desire to win. And I was reminded last night that while there are a million obvious other reasons to do these things, like it or not, they come right around the time where money saved by not spending to the cap just about pays the "Chiefs" part of the stadium renovations. I'm sure that's not the whole story, no one this is the whole story, but it's an interesting note nonetheless.
To answer your question, yes I do think cares about winning "now," but I think a lot more of it if to generate greater profits than it is to put a SB trophy in our trophy case.
I'm sure he didn't want to lose, nobody does, but I sure was questioning his willingness to hurt to some extent financially to win.
We'll see, but I do like the moves that he's made even if most experts might agree that he seemed to ponder and delay at certain points along the way. Perhaps what's obvious to us wasn't as obvious to him, and the other way around..
