I can’t remember the rally driver I heard say it but the quote was, “your hands deal in feet and your feet deal in inches.” Meaning that the steering wheel gets you pointed in the general direction then the turn is finished off with the throttle. This works for any racing with rear wheel drive vehicles but is exaggerated in the dirt which is part of the appeal of sprint cars. They spend more time sideways than straight.
