THE BUZZ: Deus Ex: Human Revolution has managed to ship over 600,000 units during its first week of sales on all platforms.

WHAT WE KNOW: According to estimated worldwide sales figures that have just been released Deus Ex sold around 656,000 units during its first week on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. The Xbox 360 version of the game sold best with around 348,000 units, the PlayStation 3 sold 228,000 units and the PC version managed 80,000.

This is an impressive figure for any game during its first week, however the major question is, what was Square-Enix's sales target in order for the game to break even?

According to estimated worldwide figures released by Vgchartz, Deus Ex has sold around 656,000 units for the week ending the 27th of August - on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 platforms. Most of the sales came from the Xbox 360 version with some 348K units, whereas the PS3 version saw 228K units with PC coming in at 80K. This is great news for Square Enix and good news for fans of the series, but we have to wonder; with a game in development for so many years, what will the magic number of units sold that it has to surpass to yield a profit margin for publisher Square.
