Never use straps for deadlifts though. That's a definite no-no.
I always find it funny when I see guys doing direct forearm work but using straps for everything. If they switched those two around, no straps for everything and no direct forearm work, I bet their forearms would be bigger.

versa grips are awesome for back work. they let you really focus on pulling with your elbows and feeling the movement. you can always do grip and forearm work on the side, too. I dont use them on deads though, just back movents that i have a hard time feeling it.
