Does he really not know? Or does he know and is just in denial about that and won't ever bring it up to them out of the shame of it? I would guess the latter. Perhaps he thinks it reflects on him being some kind of failure of a father to them.

Really? I got the feeling from the last episode with Cersi and Tywin that he does know and is barely able to hide his contempt. Its like the father in denial - as long as no one speaks about it, it hasn't really happened, but it colors every other criticism he has for either one of them.
