Meh. It's not turrible.
Spoiler!
Navia is awful. I hate her character and the actress is pure shit. She is the worst part of the whole thing.
Someone mentioned it earlier. The action is weak. It's like they feel they have to do it because it is expected. Some of it is uninspired. Some of it is decent. Especially the gladiator shit in the 2nd to last episode. That was some good shit.
I had anticipated that switching from guerrilla war to full scale war. It has been a tough sell. They did a nice job of showing that it was shitty. It was better than I expected, but still a tough sell.
Probably the thing that pissed me off more is after Crixus split they just said **** it. He dies, that's all you need to know. That was horrible. When they finally got around to killing him, it was slightly less rushed, but still horrid. Man, what a letdown. They could have left the pirates out completely and focused more on that part of the story. I mean, I really liked the episode before that one, but jesus ****, at least spend a little time on it.
It's not all bad though. I think the strategy stuff was all pretty interesting and well done. I think the whole Krassus' slave storyline was pretty good. Ceasar I know is not historically accurate, but he adds some dimension. Tiberius being a ****hole adds the typical Roman assbaggery. I really like the Agron character other than all the ghey buttsechs. The Roman chick loving Spartacus is easy to see coming, but adds some necessary love story to it.
All in all, it had to end. And the end is a tough sell, from gladiators to all out war is tough to wrap one's head around, much less produce. And this is better than I expected.
