As you've seen from the other poster's replies, but the irony of it is that they are taking heat from both sides.
The smaller schools are tired of some programs double standard and the appearance of the NCAA turning a blind eye for the cash cow institutions.
The larger schools feel like the NCAA is just another extraneous level of hoops to jump through and an unnecessary drain on money they already generate through their programs. Simply put they don't see any value except from the other schools that draw ratings and money, so they really only are concerned with about 1/3 of the schools- namely that big 5 conference teams plus maybe a handful of other teams.
So the NCAA is walking a very thin line between both sides, and now that all those big conference members have shifted their historical allegiance there isn't the same buffer of historical rivalry and tradition so the idea of the world of college sports post NCAA is a way more brutal reality of coming to pass.
