I didn't think I needed to make the distinction between scenes with actors and space scenes, because obviously all the spaceship scenes are fully CG. Model work is (sadly) long dead.
And it's not like I was trying to say this movie is a triumph of practical effects, the first line of my post was "there was a lot of CG". But if you pay attention to that VFX reel you'll see that most of the foreground elements, i.e. the stuff the actors interact with, is practical. That may seem trivial, but it grounds the scenes enough that you don't feel like you're watching actors floating over cartoons like in Episode III.
