I thought that
Childhood's End was as close as possible to the book. What didn't you like about it?
I loved everything by Arthur C. Clarke but I just never really dug Heinlein, even thought I read all of his books. At the root, they were more political in nature than sci-fi, as least that was my take during junior high and high school.
