Its something he does all the time in COMIC BOOKS. This was not a comic book. It was never intended to directly mirror a comic book. What the comic version superman does has NO bearing on what this superman does.
The Batman in the Chris Nolan series isn't a direct mirror of the comic book batman, does that piss you off as well?
