First of all he won a D2 championship at the D2 equivalent of Texas or Ohio State. UCM, other than Grand Valley State, has the most resources of any D2 school in the nation (Lindenwood could start challenging them IMO). Mainly with JUCOs and transfers.

Second as the lead recruiter in the mid to late 90s when a mass exodus of top Missouri prep talent, didn't sign with Mizzou. Why you expect during the younger years, you couldn't get the top talent - why when you are older? Just look at this list:
Larry Hughes
Chris Carrawell
Loren Woods
Ryan Robertson
Derek Hood
Tyrone Lue
JaRon Rush
Gary Buchanan
Cookie Belcher
You think Mizzou could have won something during those years with that talent?

Third, even with his pretty solid resume he never got considered for any other head coaching job. If he was really worth a damn, MVC school would have scooped him. Seriously that's the stepping stone conference for basketball coaches. Not a single one of them wanted him.

Just really, really stupid on the part of the booster trying to get some nostalgia without thinking it through.
Preaching to the choir, man.

One of the things I pointed out as a concern on PowerMizzou consistently was that Kim Anderson was the lead assistant of a declining program and that the talent brought in during that period was consistently underwhelming.

He became the lead assistant in 92 or so. The only impact recruits they landed during that time period, before Dooling and Gilbert, were Kelly Thames and Jeff Hafer, and Hafer was more luck than anything else.

And if Paul O'Liney doesn't see them getting their shit pushed in at Bud Walton, I'm not sure that 93-94 team even comes together like it did.

The CMSU-place-on-the-landscape thing is a great point and one that is consistently ignored by Kim pumpers.

He didn't win at CMSU because he had a great system, or was great at developing kids, or was great at Xs and Os. Even his biggest supporters on PM who watched his teams at CMSU site that he didn't have any of these things. Just talk about "toughness" and skill. And admit that he had a lot of talent on his best teams there.

He won at CMSU because it's a big kid on its block (complete with mustache, pubic hair, and muscles) and he was able to attract more talent than its peer institutions - and that talent was largely made up of kids who had no better options and who had to put up with his old man schtick, because like Richard Gere in an Officer and a Gentlemen, they had nowhere else to go.
