I never thought he would have been able to touch Roy’s winning percentage, but a lot of fans were upset because they were losing the style of play that they had gotten used to and took pride in. Props to KU’s staff for nailing that hire (even after Duke Vitale told him to pass on the job).

I remember being a bit concerned about Self's style and that we weren't going to run and gun like Roy's teams were so good at doing. I'm glad we ended up with Self. He is obviously a better overall coach.
