It's an over-reaction.

The Chiefs have not signed Alex Smith long-term. They have not passed on any QBs in the draft yet. They have not made any indication that they refuse to find a young QB to groom behind Smith with the intention of him being the long-term starter.

If Alex Smith is the best QB we come up with over the next 3 years, and it's because we didn't try, then yes. If he's a stopgap for a year or 2, I really could care less how many picks we gave up.
