Mock (3/1/13)

Playing around with free agency acquisitions I think this team could make.

As for the draft picks, I am trying to change things up -- I will not draft a single guy I've already mocked this season.

1. The Chiefs resign Bowe, and let Dorsey and Albert walk.

2. Cassel is cut. Tyson Jackson stays on board, at reduced salary.

3. The Chiefs land CB Sean Smith and DE Chris Canty.

4. They get two compensatory picks, an extra third (Carr) and a 7th (Richardson).

On with the show:

1. OT Eric Fisher, Central Michigan

I have a big thread in the Lounge (that fell like a rock) explaining why I think Fisher is a superior selection than Joeckel. It usually freaks people out to take a small program prospect this early, but Joe Staley came from Central Michigan, and Fisher is surprisingly polished.

3. WR Marquess Wilson, Washington State

Let's get faster, whaddaya say.

3. QB E.J. Manuel, Florida State

Every year it's a QB in the midrounds with Reid and Dorsey. This year it's Manuel, a guy who has resurrected his chances of being a second-day pick with a pretty solid Combine.

4. OLB Cornelius Washington, Georgia

This is a pie-in-the-sky hope that Washington falls to the fourth. Washington is absolutely perfect to rush the passer from the OLB position, with a huge body (268 lbs) but timed at 4.5 at the Combine. He's going on the second day, I believe. But somebody has to fall, so here we are.

5. OG Stephane Milhim, UMass-Amherst

A good-sized guard from a small program that grew up in Haiti. He's got a pretty interesting story, but he weighed in at 314 lbs, ran a 5.20 at the Combine, and features impressive 34+" arms.

6. ILB Chase Thomas, Stanford

Thomas is a good talent that will fall like a rock in the draft, because he ran a slow 40. Fortunately, he's a versatile player that can play ILB or OLB in our system. This team needs a two-down linebacker, and Thomas can at least provide depth if he can't provide the start.

7. RB Cameron Marshall, Arizona State

A bigger back (221 lbs) with some quickness to him. Largely overlooked, because who gives a shit about ASU.

7. ILB Vince Williams, Florida State

Williams is a one-dimensional smasher for the 3-4 position. I'd prefer to start him over Thomas, even as Thomas is more versatile.
