Also, early indications from sources involved was that Anderson was not expected to be a serious candidate for the job, much less a finalist on the first day of the search. Missouri athletics director Mike Alden interviewed Anderson in 1999 for the head coaching job when he instead hired Quin Snyder and has since overlooked the former Big Eight player of the year and longtime Norm Stewart assistant in the past two head coaching searches.
