The numbers add up 77 sacks on Smith 09-11 and the avg time is below the avg. His pass protection has almost always sucked. It's why he gets the ball out in 3 seconds or moves to run or throw / throw it away.
In 2012 in a few games he held the ball and took sacks. Because they were up and they odds to win were about 90%.
