Then the whole fact you would have to grind out pve again for pvp would piss people off.. The easiest way is pvp ratings, but that pissed a lot of people off, because it is not about skill, it will be about character matchups first, gear and latency..
Very few people I knew in Wow loved pvp/arena, they did it because they were bored and it was a part of the game.. Especially all the guys that were there from vanilla..
If you have nerf characters further to balance pvp, most players are going to hate pvp more for it..

They do have abilities and buffs that work differently in PVP vs. PVE in WoW. Also, pvptards make up a lot of the hardcore players. Nowadays you've got raiders, pvptards, casuals and noobs. Those are the four groups that WoW is balanced around.
