There was some hack comedian who had a bit about how sanguine Mexicans were about creating holidays. The Irish have a backstory for St. Patrick's day. African Americans created a religion to justify Kwanzaa. Elaborate stories behind Christmas, Easter, Halloween, etc. And ask Mexicans about their holiday 'it's the 5th of May, Ese. What more can I say? It's the 5th of May.'
He sells the bit and you might even chuckle, . . . then you realize we celebrate the 4th of July.
