What's funny: It doesn't even MATTER if Myers is a bust. It does...not...matter. First, you replace Frenchy and his (-2.7) WAR. You win immediately. Second, Dayton can simply say "Every scouting expert was wrong on Wil. It happens" and the fans will certainly accept the logic. But if he makes a dumb trade, he will hear about Myers for 6-7 years. Endlessly. And worse: even if Shields/Lester was good the 2 years they were actually in KC, that leaves 4-5 years on the backend where Myers is being tracked like a hawk by our fanbase.
It's a trade that has absolutely no upside for DM, and complete downside. Short of Shields going 17-6 and us winning the division by 1 game.
