I think that the "speed" aspect that most view as game-changing is overrated. Being able to hand-fight effectively off the line while maintaining correct body control/positioning and aggressively using hands to catch, as well as explosiveness in and out of breaks is much more important to me personally than speed when evaluating a prospect. Speed is an excellent tool that can't be taught however, and shouldn't be undervalued.
As an example (and without watching Keenan, I have no idea if this comparison is valid or not) but Bowe doesn't have elite speed. However, he does possess the qualities I listed and those are some of the primary reasons he's been able to maintain his productivity with the horrific QB play he's been subjected to.
