So, I've been pondering this thread for a few days thinking about how to respond. I can't, for the life of me, understand either one of these moves. Justin Houston is the best overall player on the entire defense. He makes plays against the run and the pass. He isn't quite the pass rusher of old, and perhaps he isn't quite worth his salary anymore, but cutting him is idiotic. He's been more productive than Clay Matthews so your bar really isn't coming down far economically and I don't think it matters much to restructure him next season from a cap standpoint. I can't get on board with that thought process. I'd rather see Berry cut than Houston. As for Sorensen, he's a valuable piece as a $ backer/SS. He had a freak injury. We've seen this season just how bad things get when you just make the step down from a player of Sorensen's quality. I'm not on board with this either.

I think most of this will happen, but one thing I do have a hard time seeing is the Chiefs retain Terrence Smith on a tender. the Original Round tender projects to be just over $2 million. Smith simply isn't worth it. An UDFA could do as well.

I don't have a problem with this, although I do think Thomas will be seeking a deal over 10 million per and probably closer to 12 million per. That said, I think spending that money on a corner like Darby is a better use of resources. In my mock, I probably over-projected the amount a guy like Tre Boston would cost, but he's been playing as good as Thomas for the past couple of seasons and should come in at or under the 9 million per mark. Looking at it in retrospect, I'd probably change that amount to around 7 per given the way safeties were treated this offseason.

I like this draft overall. Two things though, in my opinion, are that Allen is probably closer to an end of round 1 guy than an end of round 2 guy and I don't particularly like taking a NT prospect again even in the 7th round. You already have the position relatively locked down with Williams and Nnadi for the next couple seasons.
