One thing to keep in mind is that R.A. Dickey is the only active knuckleball pitcher, and he apparently figured out how to control the pitch last season. So, we wouldn't be worried about him losing 1 or 2 mph on his fastball. As long as he doesn't lose it, he could pitch well into his 40's like Wakefield.
That said, he's only signed for one more year, so he sure as hell isn't worth what the Mets apparently asked for.
