By the same token, discussing the canning a coach who lost to the same team twice in the playoffs
at home and failed to advance, as well as fielding a team which looks like it will limp into the playoffs this year, is an example of a fan who is doing what the organization said we should expect. ACCOUNTABILITY. It's not like the club has not been raising the bar in it's performance and, more importantly, it's rhetoric. They might be a victim of their own stated expectations. It's a helluva lot easier to change one coach than an entire team.
Look, I get that you are 'in' with the club and very well could be personally acquainted with Vermes. I would probably be in the same boat if I knew him personally. However, I've stated for two years now that I did not think he'd get us where we wanted to go. Yes, SKC won a trophy last year but it was a MIRACLE controversial mishap ending that won it. Does that mean it's less an accomplishment, no. But I would love to see the team be coached to be STRONGER in important games so that they don't fizzle out or win by another team's losing.
PV might be an excellent talent scout and player developer but he's not great at getting the best performance from his team in critical clutch situations. We'll see how he gets the guys turned around now but since March I've been unimpressed with the consistency and effort on the field ESPECIALLY at home. I'm not one who is suddenly worried because we've lost 4 of 5. No, I sat through the excuses of the early season and adjusting to losing key players, then I sat through the 'bad in May' excuses which then went into June. Then the time off and injuries...I get that those are all factors in where we are but to state that the coaching, or lack there of, is not a factor as well is naive.
