You will eventually develop a feel for it where you don't have to waste scouting points after you scout the first trait. If a guy's first trait isn't at least a B- I usually don't spend any more points on him, regardless of where he's ranked. If the second trait isn't at least a C+ I stop there, because it usually means the third trait is shitty

I'll also only scout the first trait on skill position players, spend the rest of the points on other positions, and then go back to skill players after the combine info comes out. That way I'm not wasting points on a 4.7 WR.

As for your GM/HC/Scouts, if you upgrade your coach you can get more scouting points to spend. Changing scouts will reduce the cost of scouting a certain position group.
