Blake Harris, the 6-foot-3 point guard from Word of God (NC) Christian Academy, was granted his release from Washington on Tuesday, the school tells ZAGSBLOG. Harris’ decommitment comes less than a week after the firing of Washington head coach Lorenzo Romar.
Harris initially committed last July.
Washington has asked signees to meet with new coach Mike Hopkins before releasing them. Five-star Washington signee Michael Porter Jr. has also requested release from his National Letter of Intent but is yet to meet with Hopkins. The 6-10 Porter Jr. will compete in the McDonald’s All-American game next week in Chicago
Moving forward, there has been speculation about Harris possibly committing to Missouri, as Michael Porter Sr., a former Washington assistant, is expected to be hired as an assistant coach for the Tigers.
