Holland didn't just sign some cheapo contract for a hope and a prayer. The Rockies gave him a pretty sweet deal. He won't hit all of his incentives, sure, but he's going to hit quite a few of them. He has a legit shot to make more $$ than Wade in 2017/2018.

It was no choice for Holland. I would have questioned his sanity if he took KC's piddly offer over what Colorado offered him.
That said, it's still conceivable that we could have all three. We just thought he was more of a risk than he turned out to be to offer him anything more. I guess you could argue that Dayton dropped the ball in that instance if you really wanted to be picky about it.
