From my understanding, Williams was only signed to do Episode VII.
It was announced early on that Desplait would be the composer for
Rogue One but I've been hearing rumors that he's out and two other composers are in the running for the film.
Personally, I thought that Williams score was just awful for VII. I've watched it an additional five times since receiving the Blu Ray last week and for me, the score is completely forgettable.
It's time to pass the baton.
